ABOUT
BARRI
BIOGRAPHY

Born and raised in the West Valley, Barri brings extensive experience in public service and a passion for community involvement. For nearly two decades, Barri has worked on behalf of residents of the San Fernando Valley. She has held high-ranking positions in the State Legislature, the Office of the former Mayor of Los Angeles, and the County Board of Supervisors. She has also served in nonprofit leadership. Beyond professional experience, Barri is a consummate community advocate and volunteer, holding multiple board and leadership roles on community committees, and in nonprofit and community based organizations.
Currently serving as the Director of Community Affairs for Los Angeles County Supervisor Lindsey Horvath, Barri leads community outreach and constituent engagement for over two million residents. Barri has taken a leading role in helping Los Angeles recover from recent, devastating fires. In 2024, Barri played a pivotal part in securing passage of the most significant ethics reform package in the history of Los Angeles County.
Barri believes the Valley must get its fair share, and she was instrumental in delivering increased funding to the Valley for major projects. While working in the California State Senate, she organized Valley-wide efforts to successfully secure funding for transportation infrastructure, and helped lead the State’s support to rebuild organizations impacted by wildfires, including $23.5 million in California’s State Budget funding for Los Angeles area camps destroyed in the 2018 Woolsey Fire. She also directed government affairs and community engagement for The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles.
Barri’s deep, unwavering commitment to the San Fernando Valley includes volunteering in organizations throughout the community. She served as a founding co-chair of the Inspirational Women of the San Fernando Valley Awards for 10 years. Barri has served in board and volunteer leadership roles at Temple Judea in Tarzana, most recently on the Ethics Committee, New Directions for Youth, West Valley YMCA and Mid-Valley YMCA, and the Executives of the Los Angeles Jewish Home in Reseda. She is passionate about youth and served as an advisor for B’nai B’rith Girls. She has worked to increase access to health care, volunteered with organizations that support women in leadership, and she is an elected member of the L.A. County Democratic Party. Barri was also featured in San Fernando Valley’s Business Journal “40 under 40”.
Barri graduated from UC San Diego, and has a master’s degree from USC. She lives in Woodland Hills with her husband and three children. Her family’s experience navigating the healthcare system for their daughter, who was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, has fueled her passion for healthcare advocacy.
Barri is running for City Council to fight for the Valley’s fair share at City Hall, ensure residents’ voices are heard, and bring real solutions to the issues facing Los Angeles. Barri’s combination of experience, vision, and broad community support will ensure a strong voice for the Valley on the City Council.

“Barri has been a partner and supporter of our work along the upper L.A. River for the past few years. We appreciate her interest in our work, commitment to support efforts, and follow through on needed changes to the area — all critical qualities for a healthy and successful community-government partnership.”
